The election expenses of the candidates start as soon as the list of candidates comes. No candidate can afford the election expenses for a long time on his own, while the Congress Party does not have money to give to its candidates. This is the reason why efforts are being made to reduce the election expenses of Congress candidates by announcing the candidates later.

Congress has to contest elections on three Lok Sabha seats in Delhi (Chandni Chowk, North West Delhi and North East Delhi). A leader claiming to get Congress ticket on one of these seats told Amar Ujala that the party is declaring its list of candidates with priorities. It is brainstorming the candidates for the first, second and third phase seats. Since elections are to be held in Delhi on May 25, which has ample time, the list of candidates for Delhi will be announced later.

The list may come after Holi
According to the leader, since the top leaders are continuously holding core committee meetings and announcing the names of the candidates for the seats, the names for the candidates for the Delhi seats will also be finalized soon. Earlier the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee had given a list of three names from each seat and later the Congress leadership had asked for the name of only one candidate from each seat.

According to a top party leader, a meeting of the party's core committee leaders may be called again soon to finally select the name of one candidate for each seat. The names decided in this will be placed in front of the central unit. After this the Congress high command will take the final decision. It is estimated that the list of Congress candidates may be revealed after Holi.
