Portblair - National President of the Republican Party, Union Minister of State for Social Justice N.Ramdas Athawale reviewed the work of various schemes of the Government of India in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar today in the presence of all government officials at Port Blair. Mr. Ramdas Athawale assured that the funds for the development works in Andaman and Nicobar and for the implementation of government schemes will not be reduced.

  The Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar has an area of 8249 km. According to the census of 2011, the total population here is 3 lakh 80 thousand. There are total 70 villages here. is a municipality. There are 7 Gram Panchayat Committees. There are 3 lakh 8 thousand registered voters for the Lok Sabha constituency. Andaman Nicobar has 65 percent OBC population. Tribal people constitute 7.5 percent of the population. 60 lakhs has been received from the central government for OBC scholarship this year. There have been only 40 atrocity cases in 17 years from 2006 to 2023. Only 2 cases of atrocity occurred in 2023. There are 15,185 senior citizens here. Senior citizens here get 2500 pension. And citizens above 80 years of age get a pension of Rs 3000. There are a total of 1600 sweepers here. They get a salary of more than 25 thousand each. There are 5601 persons with disabilities. There are 2 Woldage Homes. Government of India has provided 1 lakh 17 thousand crores under Scheduled Tribe Sub Plan. 226 crores has been given to Andaman and Nicobar.

Calcutta to Portblair and Chennai to Portblair regular sea passenger traffic. Port Blair Airport is connected to all major cities.
