The history of Dadra Nagar Haveli Freedom Struggle is inspiring for the new generation and I personally will follow up with the Central Government to erect a Victory Pillar at Silvassa to keep its memory alive; assured Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to the delegation of freedom fighters.
The delegation of Dadra Nagar Haveli Muktisangram Samiti met the Governor and presented a statement on the issue to him. The late Shivshahir Babasaheb Purandare was the chairman of this Samiti. The delegation included Vice Chairman Balasaheb Jambhulkar, General Secretary Arvind Manolkar and Co-General Secretary Vasant Prasade.
This is the 67th year of Dadra Nagar Haveli freedom struggle. All those who took part in this successful armed freedom struggle against the Portuguese on a global scale are old. They feel that Victory pillars should be erected in their lifetime. The samiti is making efforts by communicating Central Government and Dadra Nagar Haveli Administration for 5 to 6 years. I will recommend and follow up with Home Minister Amit Shah to speed up this work, said the Governor.
