Kolhapur: Controversial Remark by Sambhaji Bhide Claims Saffron, Not Tricolour, Is India's National Flag

Kolhapur : In a statement likely to spark fresh controversy, Shivpratishthan Hindustan chief Sambhaji Bhide has claimed that the saffron flag, and not the tricolour, is the true national flag of India. Known for his provocative remarks, Bhide's latest comment has once again drawn public attention.

“Today, a great sacrificial ritual (Mahayagya) is underway in the country. It must conclude with the hoisting of the saffron flag on the Red Fort,” Bhide declared.

He recounted history, saying that after the death of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, there was widespread despair. However, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj succeeded him and, despite ruling for only about nine years, he followed in his father's footsteps and demonstrated remarkable leadership, until he was brutally killed by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.

Bhide further said that inspired by the legacy of Shivaji and Sambhaji Maharaj, Maratha warriors conquered large parts of India and even broke the throne of Delhi, hoisting the saffron flag over the Red Fort. He urged the audience to repeat such valorous feats.

“Though we are free today, our aim should be to re-establish Kashi Vishweshwar, destroy Pakistan, and attain true independence under the saffron flag,” he added.
