Lohgaon and other villages included in Pune Municipal Corporation still hoping for basic amenities
MLA Bapusaheb Pathare demands government's attention towards these villages
Pune: Villages included in the Pune Municipal Corporation have been waiting for basic amenities for several years. There are no roads, no water, no drainage, and no electricity - everything is uncertain. The expectation that the inclusion in the municipal corporation would bring amenities has been dashed, and the current situation in these villages reflects this. During the monsoon session (on 16th), MLA Bapusaheb Pathare drew the government's attention to this issue through a proposal under Rule 293.
"After being included in the municipal corporation, citizens welcomed the decision expecting basic amenities. However, they are still suffering due to inadequate arrangements for roads, water, electricity, and drainage," Pathare expressed in the assembly. He highlighted that even basic maintenance like laying murrum on damaged roads in areas like Lohgaon is not being done.
Pathare also pointed out the poor state of rivers in the city, closed water treatment plants in societies, the need for grid chambers for every household, and the resulting sanitation issues. "On one hand, the population is increasing rapidly, but healthcare services are not keeping pace. Medical services like hospitals and primary health centers are inadequate, causing immense inconvenience to citizens," he said, emphasizing the need for urgent development work in these villages.
Pathare demanded that the government provide special funds for the development of these villages and consider them while delineating constituencies to ensure fair representation.
