Shock to BJP in Karnataka | Former Chief Minister Jagdish Shettar joins Congress in the presence of Mallikarjun Kharge
BANGALORE - Former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagdish Shettar, who left the BJP in displeasure, joined the Congress on Monday. On Monday morning, he arrived at the Congress office in Bangalore and addressed a press conference along with Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge. On this occasion, big leaders of the state including DK Shivakumar were present. Shettar had met Congress leaders Ranajdeep Singh Surjewala and Siddaramaiah on Sunday. Shettar is MLA from Hubli-Dharwad constituency. He was demanding ticket from BJP from this constituency.

Yeddyurappa said that even after that, it is bad for him to leave the BJP and join the Congress. He also warned that he should be aware that Shettar's identity is due to BJP. He has also warned that the people of Karnataka will not forgive him.
Jagdish Shettar was offered a cabinet post. It was given by Dharmendra Pradhan. BJP had also shown its readiness to give ticket to someone from his family. Yeddyurappa has also said that Shettar did not reply in this regard. Yeddyurappa has asked Shettar why he is joining the Congress.
On Saturday, Shettar had resigned from the primary membership of BJP and from MLA on Sunday. Shettar was upset because he was not getting a ticket from Hubli. On Saturday, Shettar had also challenged the party leaders. He had warned that he should take a decision about his ticket or lose his 20 to 25 seats.

Shettar has said that he is disappointed because he was humiliated in BJP. He has also alleged that a conspiracy has been hatched against him. Shettar said that he will enter the assembly arena to challenge this insult. Shettar, who was upset about not getting a ticket, met JP Nadda. But still they did not get the ticket.
Before Shettar left the party, Yeddyurappa had stated that his departure would be a loss for the party. He had said that if Shettar does not get a ticket, it will affect not one seat but 25 seats.
