Respect for elders, more improvement in mental weakness | MCI symptoms and difficulties

Till now it has been believed that not all people suffering from this mental weakness get cured due to old age. But, now American scientists claim that in a culture where aging is taken positively, there is a good attitude towards the elderly

We must have seen many such elders around us, who are victims of weakening memory along with increasing age. Especially this problem is found more in the elderly above 65 years of age. In the language of the medical field, it is called Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). People suffering from this start forgetting things, it becomes difficult to recognize acquaintances.


Till now it has been believed that not all people suffering from this mental weakness get cured due to old age. But, now American scientists claim that in a culture where aging is taken positively, there is a good attitude towards the elderly, there is improvement in the sufferers of MCI. According to the study, the chances of improvement in such cultures increase by up to 30 percent compared to others.

 

Improvement possible in half the cases
According to Becca Levy, lead author of the study and a psychiatrist at the Yale School of Public Health, viewing aging in a positive way can help sufferers reduce stress, boost self-confidence and improve their belief in mental ability. According to Yale researcher Martin Slade, this study talks about the effect of culture on brain performance for the first time.

 

Symptoms and Complications
Memory: Forgetting things with age, unable to remember names, dates, words.
Comprehension: Trouble understanding things even after seeing them.
Confusion: The mind is often confused. Difficulty making even small daily decisions.
Recognition: Forgetting an acquaintance, friend or relative. Can't even remember the way home.
Depression: Problems can also make one depressed, angry or irritable.
