Clash between Sudan's army-paramilitary continues, 100 dead so far, UN bans all work
The UN agency's acting director, Cindy McCain, said on Sunday that all operations in Sudan would be suspended for the time being because of the security situation.
Sudan : Clashes between paramilitaries and armed forces in Sudan continued for the third day. The death toll in this clash has now reached 97. There 600 people have been injured. The Central Committee of Doctors said a hospital was hit with cannon fire on Monday morning in the southern part of the capital. In this attack once again a situation of terror and panic was created. However, it has not caused any harm to any patient or hospital staff.
People in the capital Khartoum told that the clash had intensified after morning prayers. Gunshots and explosions were heard throughout the night. The conflict between military leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and paramilitary commander Mohammed Hamdan Daglo had been going on for days. In the last few months, both the generals have openly criticized each other fiercely.
Three workers were killed in the United Nations World Food Program on Saturday, after which the United Nations has temporarily banned all operations. We cannot operate here if the safety of our teams is not guaranteed. All parties must come to an agreement, that ensures the safety of humanitarian workers."
