Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy
Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy, the fifth Prime Minister of Pakistan, was the Prime Minister of Pakistan from September 1956 to October 1957. For this reason it was politically banned through the Elective Bodies Disqualification Order (EBDO). In July 1960 it was accused of violating it. In 1962, he was jailed under the Pakistan Security Act 1952 on charges of anti-state activities. He was kept in solitary confinement in Karachi's Central Jail without trial.

Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was the Prime Minister of Pakistan from August 1973 to July 1977, was sentenced to prison. He was accused of plotting the assassination of a political rival during 1974. He was arrested in 1977 in this case.

Later, Justice Khwaja Mohammad Ahmed Samdani of Lahore High Court released him saying that there was no basis for his arrest. However, he was later re-arrested three days later under Martial Law Regulation 12. He was hanged on April 4, 1979.

Benazir Bhutto
Pakistan's first woman Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto also had to go to jail. Bhutto was the prime minister of Pakistan twice. She was the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the first time from December 1988 to August 1990 and again from October 1993 to November 1996. She was an opposition leader during Zia-ul-Haq's dictatorship from 1977 to 1988.

After her brother's death in August 1985, she returned to Pakistan. He was put under house arrest for a period of 90 days. Apart from this, he was also arrested in 1986 on Independence Day, 1998, 1999 and again in 2007 for criticizing the government at a rally in Karachi. In 1999, he was sentenced to five years in prison on corruption charges. After this she remained in exile for seven years. When she returned to Pakistan in 2007, she was killed in a suicide attack.

Yusuf Raza Gilani
In 2008, Yusuf Raza Gilani was the Prime Minister of a coalition government of several political parties of Pakistan. An arrest warrant was issued against him in a corruption case. He was accused of transacting money in the name of fake companies. He had to go to jail.

Nawaz Sharif
After the Kargil war in 1999, General Pervez Musharraf exiled Nawaz Sharif. However, later he returned to Pakistan. He was arrested on arrival at Islamabad Airport and sent to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to complete the remaining three years of his exile.

Shahbaz Sharif
The current Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif has also been arrested. He was arrested in the NAB money laundering case on September 28, 2020 while Imran Khan was Prime Minister. His bail plea was rejected by the Lahore High Court. He was detained for about seven months until he was released from the Central Jail, Kot Lakhpat, Lahore.
