West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday accused the BJP of threatening people. He said, 'BJP is scaring people. She is saying that if they do not vote for BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, central investigating agencies will be sent to their homes. The Trinamool Congress president advised locals in Cooch Behar, especially Rajbanshis, to ensure that their names are in the voter list to protect themselves from the Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA.
Mamta Banerjee said that BJP is using central agencies for elections. She is threatening people on phone that if they do not vote for the party, then officers of Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will be sent to their homes.
BJP accused of politics of religion
The West Bengal Chief Minister also said that she does not need any order from the BJP to worship God. She will not be afraid to reject any such invitation or instruction. She said that I follow Ramayana, Quran, Bible and Guru Granth Sahib. I don't pretend to go to poor people's houses and eat food brought from outside. Banerjee alleged that the Center was raising the CAA issue to do politics before the Lok Sabha elections.
Politics intensified after Union Minister's statement
Earlier in the day, Union Minister and BJP leader Shantanu Thakur claimed that the CAA will be implemented across India within the next seven days. Thakur said at a public meeting in Kakdwip in South 24 Parganas district that within the next one week, the CAA will be implemented not only in West Bengal but in the entire country.
BSF also surrounded
Speaking at the event in Cooch Behar, Mamata Banerjee also accused the BSF of harassing people and issuing separate identity cards to people living in border areas. He cautioned the local people not to accept such identity cards from BSF, otherwise they will fall into the trap of NRC. If they ask you, tell them that you have Aadhar and Ration card and you do not need any other card.
