Andhra Pradesh: Agreement reached between BJP and TDP regarding election alliance?

An agreement has been reached between BJP, TDP and Jana Sena Party (JSP) for election alliance in Andhra Pradesh. This has been announced by Telugu Desam Party President and former Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu. After meeting Home Minister Amit Shah, Naidu said that an agreement has been reached between BJP, TDP and Jana Sena Party (JSP) on alliance for the elections. The coming together of BJP and TDP will be beneficial for the country and the state.

Earlier, at the official residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, both the leaders also talked about seat sharing regarding the BJP-TDP alliance. TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu is present in Delhi and is continuously meeting the top leadership of BJP.

TDP also fought the 2014 elections in alliance with BJP.
Telugu Desam Party also contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in alliance with the BJP. However, in March 2018, TDP broke the alliance after differences between the two parties on the demand of giving special status to Andhra Pradesh. Now once again TDP has formed an alliance with BJP. This alliance was also being attempted by Janasena Party chief Pawan Kalyan. On Thursday, when TDP Chief held a meeting with Amit Shah and JP Nadda in Delhi regarding alliance, Janasena Party Chief Pawan Kalyan was also present in that meeting. Along with the Lok Sabha elections, assembly elections are to be held in Andhra Pradesh this year. It is being claimed in media reports that under the alliance between the two parties, BJP can get 7-8 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state, along with this BJP has also demanded 15 assembly seats. Whereas TDP is offering 4 Lok Sabha seats and 10 assembly seats to BJP. The alliance of BJP and TDP was officially announced on Saturday.

Why alliance between BJP and TDP?
BJP has set a target of winning 370 seats on its own and more than 400 seats by NDA in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. For this, BJP is trying to establish its hold in the southern states also. In Andhra Pradesh, the party has formed an alliance with TDP as part of this effort. BJP not only hopes to get seats in the state from this, but the organization of BJP will also be strengthened.
