The excitement for Lok Sabha elections has intensified. After BJP, now Congress has also released the first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. There are names of 39 candidates in it. Veteran party leader Shashi Tharoor has been fielded from Thiruvananthapuram. Here BJP has already fielded Union Minister Rajiv Chandrashekhar. In such a situation, the contest for Thiruvananthapuram seat has become interesting.

Competition in thiruvananthapuram
On Friday, Congress released the first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. The name of former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor is also included in this. Tharoor has once again been made the candidate from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor's statement has also come on his candidature. Tharoor said, 'I feel honored that the Congress party has given me this opportunity. I have had the privilege of serving Thiruvananthapuram for 15 years and am looking forward to another opportunity... I am looking forward to the fair competition.'

Earlier on March 2, 195 names were announced in the first list of BJP. There were names of 34 central and state ministers in it. In the first list, Union Minister Rajiv Chandrashekhar was given ticket from Thiruvananthapuram.

How were the 2019 results in Thiruvananthapuram?
In 2019, former Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor had won this seat on Congress ticket. Congress candidate Tharoor got 4,16,131 votes in this election. Tharoor got total votes of 41.15% people. Last time BJP stood second on this seat. Party candidate Kummanam Rajasekharan got 3,16,142 i.e. 31.26% votes. In this way, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor won the election by 99,989 votes.
