'Eknath Gangubai Sambhaji Shinde': Maharashtra CM installs new name plate outside office, includes mother's name

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday installed a new name plate outside his office at the state secretariat in South Mumbai. In this name plate, he has written the name of his mother before his father. His new name plate reads Eknath Gangubai Sambhaji Shinde. He took this step after the decision of the state cabinet. According to this decision, it has been made mandatory for children born on and after March 1, 2024 to include their mother's name in Aadhaar and PAN card.

A statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office said, "The State Cabinet has approved the implementation of Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare's historic proposal to include the name of mother in official documents. The Chief Minister himself initiated it by implementing it. Karne ka decided kiya hai."

Like father, mother also plays an important role in child rearing. The state government feels that they should also be given due recognition. Apart from CM Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar have also changed the name plate outside their office to display their mother's name.

Devendra Sarita Gangadharrao Fadnavis in Fadnavis' name plate and Ajit Pawar's name plate is written as Ajit Ashatai Ananta Rao Pawar.
