After the Corona period, all sections of the state are still facing financial crisis. Freelance journalists in the state have also been affected by Corona and the issue of their livelihood has become serious. Therefore, the government should form a committee in collaboration with the official journalist association to get regular information about freelance journalists and part-time journalists in the state and establish a corporation for freelance journalists who are in dire need. And consider their demands through that corporation. This is a demand made by Subhash Desai, Maharashtra President of Akhil Maharashtra Nationalist General Workers Union, in a representation to the government.
Desai was speaking at a press conference organized by the Mumbai Marathi Journalists' Association. After Corona, many capitalists stopped print journalism, while some reduced the editions due to lack of sales. While some reduced the workers. Due to this, many journalists are working independently. They do not get regular jobs or minimum wages. Due to this, many have to make a living on very low remuneration. Many journalists are in debt for their livelihood and are under mental stress," he said.
