“Women are being recognized, honoured and awarded for their exceptional work. But this seems to happen mostly in urban areas. In rural parts of country the women folk are still disadvantaged. They can’t go out and earn. There is still a huge disparity in education and freedom of expression. This is so truer eespecially when the woman is Dalit. She is still deprived of her basic rights, expressed singing sensation Vaishali Made. She was speaking at the seminar on Women Entrepreneurship development organized by Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industries (DICCI) along with NSIC & SIDBI on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The event was inaugurated at the hands of Swati Mujumdar, Principal Director, Symbiosis Open Education Society and Satarupa Roy Sarkar, Sr.General Manager, Tata Motors Ltd. (Indirect material). Also present were Milind Kamble, Founder Chairman DICCI, Nischay Shelkhe- Chief-Western India, Seema Kamble- Chief Mentor, National DICCI, Snehal Londhe, Maharashtra Chief-Women Wing and many business women.

“Take advantage of all the schemes like start up and Mudra yojana. It’s the best time to become an entrepreneur. Special schemes and concessions are made by the government for Scheduled Caste entrepreneurs. Apart from the 20 percent reserved for Dalit entrepreneurs, the additional 3 percent is reserved for women entrepreneurs specifically, said Padmashree Kamble.

Women have tremendous potential but they may fall short of confidence. While performing other family duties, their aspirations are given secondary position. Women should overcome this, said Roy Sarkar. Mujumdar gave information about skill development training being given at Symbiosis to be a successful entrepreneur.
