Today, women are making rapid progress in all fields and the contribution of women in the development of the country is invaluable. The performance of women, especially during the challenging period of Corona pandemic is remarkable, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Prime Minister Modi interacted through video conferencing with the women beneficiaries of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana through women's self-help groups.
Also present on the occasion were Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Giriraj Singh, Minister for Food Processing Industries Pashupati Kumar Paras, Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Faggan Singh Kulaste, Minister of State for Panchayat Raj Kapil Patil, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Pralhad Singh Patel.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister took stock of the success of women's self-help groups. He also announced financial assistance of Rs 1,625 crore to 4 lakh self-help groups. Apart from this, an initial assistance of Rs 25 crore was announced for 7,500 self-help groups under the Prime Minister's Food Processing Micro Industries Scheme. Also, assistance of Rs. 4 crore 13 lakhs was given to 75 farmers producer associations.
The women participating in the self-help group are self-trained and leading the community. This initiative has empowered women. In addition to cracking down on domestic violence and sexual harassment, women are now taking the lead in women's education, hygiene, health and nutrition, he said.
