Bank employees often inadvertently deposit money in the wrong account and the banks recover it by freezing the account or sending a notice to the account holder. However, the recovery of money deposited in the account of an account holder in Bakhtiyarpur has become a headache for the bank and the reason given by the account holder is number one.
In March, Rs 5 lakh 50 thousand was deposited in Ranjan Das' savings account by mistake of a bank employee. The bank often issued notices to Das to get it back but in vain. Eventually, the bank lodged a complaint with the Mansi police station and the police arrested him. His answer during the interrogation has also left the police speechless.
Ranjan Das says, "I was very happy when Rs 5 lakh 50 thousand was deposited in my account in March." Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to deposit Rs 15 lakh in the bank account of every Indian citizen. I understood that the first installment of Rs 15 lakh was credited to my account. I have spent this amount immediately. "I can't repay this now," he claimed.
