Two Sentenced to Rigorous Imprisonment for Assaulting Talathi
Baramati District Sessions Court Verdict

In the case of assaulting a village revenue officer (Talathi) and obstructing government work, the Baramati District Sessions Court has convicted two accused and sentenced them to two years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹5,000 each.
The convicted individuals have been identified as Kiran Laxman Kharade and Akash Kailas Takvane (both residents of Hingnigada).
Case Background
On January 4, 2023, Talathi Balasaheb Harishchandra Chavan from Vasunde village in Daund taluka was on his way to the Mandal Officer's office at Patas for official work. Near the bus stand, the accused Kiran Kharade and Akash Takvane allegedly stopped him and assaulted him.
Following the incident, a case was registered at the Yavat Police Station. Then Assistant Police Inspector Keshav Wable from Patas Police Outpost filed a charge sheet against the accused in the Baramati District Sessions Court.
Court Verdict
District Judge Hitendra Wani delivered the judgment on Monday, September 8, convicting the accused. Both were sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹5,000 each for assaulting the Talathi.
Additionally, for issuing threats, accused Kiran Kharade received an extra sentence of one year of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹2,000.
Prosecution Details
The case was prosecuted by Additional Public Prosecutor Adv. Vikas Ghanwat on behalf of the state. The testimonies of the complainant, panch witnesses, other eyewitnesses, and the investigating officers were crucial in securing the conviction.
Accepting Adv Ghanwat’s arguments, the court imposed the sentences. Significant support in the investigation came from Police Sub-Inspector Gorakh Kasapte and Havaldar Venunath Dhopre.
