'South will help reach the target of 370', Gadkari targets opposition

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari started his election campaign from Nagpur. He said that this time with the help of the South, BJP will cross the target of 370.

The winds of Lok Sabha elections are blowing across the country. The series of statements and allegations between the leaders of the ruling BJP and the INDIA alliance has also intensified. On one hand the opposition is raising questions on the arrest of leaders including election donations, while on the other hand BJP is also saying that the opposition leaders are involved in corruption.

‘South will reach the target of 370’
Now Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed full confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's target of 370 seats. He said that additional seats in the existing 288 seats will come from growth in South India. He also said that in the last ten years, Bharatiya Janata Party has won the hearts of the people with its work. This time the BJP led National Democratic Alliance will cross 400 seats in the elections. He further said that there is no need to do state wise analysis for this. This time we will taste success in the south. According to the Union Minister, BJP has worked hard in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. He said that our presence in these states was very less. Will win on the basis of good performance in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Rejected the opposition's allegations
During this period, the Union Minister also targeted the opposition. In fact, the INDIA alliance has alleged that the Modi government is giving a free hand to central investigative agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and CBI to weaken the opposition.

Gave this advice to the opposition
Gadkari, who is contesting from Nagpur for the third time, advised the opposition that BJP's rivals should try to overcome adverse circumstances by winning the trust of the people. He further said that it is not our responsibility to weaken or strengthen the opposition. In the last few years, BJP has emerged stronger due to the hard work of its workers and the opposition will also have to make efforts to gain the trust of the people. He further said that no matter what role you play, you always have to try to overcome adversity, this is important for any opposition party.

Opposition has the option of going to court – Gadkari
Responding to the arrest of opposition leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and the Income Tax Department's notice to opposition parties, the Union Minister said the law is taking its course and the BJP or the government has nothing to do with it. He said that we did not take any action from our side. Cases have been registered as per law and the agencies continue their work. The senior BJP leader said that the opposition has the option of going to court.

Said on election donations – 'BJP has the highest TRP'
There was an uproar across the country after the disclosure of donations given through electoral bonds. Gadkari clarified that BJP is the ruling party and it is natural for it to get a larger share in donations. He further said that even in television or media, those who have high TRP get good rates in advertisements. Those with low TRP get advertisements at lower rates. Today BJP is in power, hence the party got more donations. He said that if any other party is in power tomorrow, it will get more donations.
