Chakan Plant Celebrates Milestone with EQS SUV Rollout
Mercedes-Benz India has marked a historic achievement by producing its 200,000th locally manufactured car at its Chakan plant in Maharashtra. The milestone vehicle, an EQS 580 SUV, highlights the brand’s growing dominance in India’s luxury automotive sector.
Three Decades of Manufacturing Excellence
Since its India debut in 1995 with the W124 E-Class, Mercedes-Benz has steadily expanded its local production. The journey to 200,000 cars reflects India’s evolving appetite for luxury vehicles:

- Next 100,000 cars. 9 years (2015–2023)
- Last 50,000 cars. Just 2 years & 3 months (2023–2025)
This accelerating production pace underscores rising demand for premium vehicles in India.
Key Achievements in India
