Due to the ongoing farmers' agitation on the Delhi border, traffic should not be disrupted for long. The Supreme Court has directed the Center and the state governments to find ways to open the roads which have been closed to traffic due to farmers' agitation.
Roads from Noida to Delhi have been closed for a long time, causing inconvenience to the citizens. Monica Agarwal of Noida has filed a petition seeking an order to reopen the roads immediately. The court passed the order to the state and central governments during the hearing of the petition. Asked why the roads have been closed for so long, the court said there was nothing wrong with the agitation. However, roads cannot be closed for this.
Farmers definitely have the right to agitate. However, roads cannot be closed for that or any other reason. This subject comes under the purview of Central and State Governments. Justice Kishan Kaul directed them to take necessary decision and submit a report to the court.
For the last 9 months, there has been an agitation on the borders of Delhi against the new agricultural laws. The agitating farmers have set up camp at the Singhu border connecting Haryana and Delhi and the Ghazipur border connecting Noida and Ghaziabad. As a result, traffic on these routes is jammed. Attempts are being made to clear the roads by persuading the agitating farmers. They have been told that blocking the roads by farmers is a violation of the apex court order, the Uttar Pradesh government told the court.
