Sharad Pawar, the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction), has expressed strong confidence that the party will witness a significant revival under the leadership of newly appointed state president Shashikant Shinde. Addressing party workers, Pawar emphasized that Maharashtra is currently going through a challenging phase, and it is during such times that leaders who have proven themselves through struggle must be given opportunities.

“Those we empowered are now in power. But in this period of struggle, we have chosen a leader who has consistently fought through difficult times,” Pawar said, praising Shashikant Shinde as a hardworking grassroots leader.

Shinde, who comes from a Mathadi (head-loader) worker’s family, began his career as a clerk and rose through the ranks through dedication and hard work. “He never backed down in times of adversity. He has always been connected to the common man and has remained true to his values. His way of working is grounded in deep thought and commitment,” Pawar said, adding that under Shinde’s leadership, the party will rise with renewed vigor.

Pawar also lauded the contributions of outgoing state president Jayant Patil. “Patil led the party for seven years with unwavering dedication, even during tough times. Early in his political career, he was entrusted with the Finance Ministry, where he presented nine state budgets. He later handled the Home Ministry during times of crisis with equal determination,” Pawar noted.

Encouraging party office-bearers to reconnect with the grassroots, Pawar urged them to tour the entire state, understand the situation in every village and taluka, and act accordingly. He highlighted the example set by the party’s OBC cell president Raj Rajapurkar, who has submitted detailed reports from each taluka.

“Let every party member take up such work, and then let us see how the party doesn’t rise again,” Pawar declared, inspiring a fresh wave of enthusiasm among party leaders and workers.
