Jath, Sangli / Maharashtra : To defend democracy and uphold the dignity of voters, the Jath Taluka Congress Committee organized a torch rally in Jath town. The march, which began from the Market Yard, reverberated with powerful slogans such as “Vote thieves, vacate the chair,” “Save democracy,” and “Down with the corrupt.” The glow of hundreds of torches carried by citizens sent a strong message of public resistance across the town.
The rally was held under the leadership of Sangli District Congress Committee President and former MLA Vikramsinh Sawant. Addressing the gathering, Sawant declared, “Protecting the integrity of democracy is every citizen’s responsibility. Vote rigging is equivalent to treason, and the Congress party will not rest until those responsible are brought under the law.”
Hundreds of party office-bearers, workers, youth, and Congress supporters from across the town and taluka participated in what was described as a historic protest.
Message and Outcome of the Rally
At the outset, district Congress officials screened a video highlighting the evidence recently exposed by Rahul Gandhi regarding manipulation of the voters’ list. They emphasized that voter fraud undermines the very foundation of democracy, endangers the fairness of elections, and erodes public trust in the country’s governance.
Through this torch rally, the Congress party appealed to citizens to remain vigilant, unite to safeguard democracy, and work collectively to ensure that future elections are conducted in a free and fair manner.
