The Chapter has completed 34 initiatives in different spectrums like farming and agriculture, health, education, social welfare and sustainable livelihood projects’ Said Mrs Ritu Prakash Chhabria , outgoing Chairperson, FICCI  FLO Pune Chapter.

Chhabria recently completed her tenure as Chairperson of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce Industries (FICCI) Ladies Organisation (FLO) Pune chapter. On this occasion, she appraised the work done in the Chapter.

Some of the highlights are:

Keeping in line with the National Vision FLO Pune in June 2019 supported 100 widowed women farmers. Began with identifying, helping the women with land acquisitions, training, packaging, pricing and marketing were the steps involved to make this project a great success. Seeds were provided to these women for farming at the august hands of Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil, State Agriculture Minister. Today, as a result of our initiative, 60% of the women have been able to repay their debts and support their childrens education.

At Pune Chapter in consultation with the next two Chairs funds have been allocated to sustain this project for the next two years. 40 women champions from Bharat Agro Industries Foundation (BAIF) were trained in soft skills, legal rights and online sales and marketing.

Health being priority the Chapter has gone from supporting school girls to Health Workers and for jail inmates who are vulnerable in the society. Another group of women that have been supported are the HIV+ women with sewing machines as a means to earn a decent livelihood and be an additional support to their families. 40 girls have been administered Cervical cancer vaccination. The second dose is delayed due to the pandemic and will be given once the school re opens.

We started the Incubation project under the able leadership of Dr Rajendra Jagdale, Director- Science and Technology Park, Pune. To empower and educate the senior citizens of our society we initiate Aaji Bai Chi Shaala. 225 girls were also given bicycles to go to school independently.”

Plumbing Course has been introduced for the very first time in ITI girls College, Aundh. 312 ASHA (Rural Health Workers) in the district of Satara have undergone primary screening of Breast Cancer. 3 ladies who have further been diagnosed with an issue were supported and taken for further treatment.

251 women prisoners along with their children underwent basic health check up at the Pune Prison.

In line with Agriculture and Health FLO Pune announced for the very first time a FICCI FLO scholarship to support 7 girls for a 4 year BSc Agriculture and 4 girls for a 4 year BSc Nursing Program. Funds have been allocated at Pune in consultation with the incoming Chairpersons for subsequent years.

The Chapter during this time of the pandemic Covid – 19 with the support of the EC decided to dedicate an amount of Rs. 5.88 lac to procure masks, PPE suits and support fr feeding.

Chhabria said that 3 major events the chapter witnessed  are the FLO Bazaar which had a total of 73 entrepreneurs from PAN India. A special NGO corner was created and  profits from the bazaar were deployed towards Women Empowerment schemes. This event was graced by Mrs. Chetna Sinha.

December saw Flo Pune’s Flagship event – The FLO Pune Half Marathon which had 9,100 entrants with 41 corporates, runners professional and amateurs, differently abled and a full spectrum of age-groups.

Hack the Cause India – an online Hackathon series was organized and put FLO on an international platform.

We were supported by the Ministry of IT and Electronics, MyGov and others. FLO Pune was also invited to be part of the Global Hack which was a great and exciting learning experience for those involved. Dr Garg, Senior Director and Ministry of Electronics and IT and Abhishek Singh, CEO, My Gov graced the grand finale of the Global Hackathon, she mentioned.
