Investigation of Income Tax Department at six places related to Sonu Sood

New Delhi / Correspondent

Teams of the Income Tax Department visited six places in Mumbai and Lucknow related to actor Sonu Sood, who is in the news for providing all kinds of assistance to the displaced persons during corona crises, and inspected the documents and registers. The move comes after a meeting between Sonu and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to act as a brand ambassador for the Delhi state government's school scheme.

The Delhi government has started taking steps to bring about a radical change in the school education sector. As part of this effort, a mentorship program will be implemented. Kejriwal had met Sonu with the intention of working as a brand ambassador for the scheme. Sonu  later declined to comment when asked about his entry into politics. However, from this visit, discussions started that Sonu would enter politics through the Aam Aadmi Party.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Asif Bhamla denied that the action was taken under the influence of the ruling party. The income tax department is autonomous. Their modus operandi and scope are defined. It is not that the social workers not make mistakes, while explaining that the places related to Sonu have not been raided but have been investigated. He also said that the possibility of something happening at their indirect level could not be ruled out.
