Rajasthan News: Major accident in Rajasthan; 8 youths drown in Banas river
A major accident has taken place in Tonk city in Rajasthan. 8 youths who had gone for a picnic from Jaipur have drowned in the Banas river and died. Three have been rescued and were admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
All the deceased youths are between the ages of 20 and 30. Police have speculated that the youths may not have been able to swim or may have drowned while trying to save each other.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police immediately reached the spot and, with the help of locals, retrieved the bodies. The deceased include Naushad (35), Qasim, Farhan (all residents of Hasanpura), Rizwan (26, Ghatgate), Nawab Khan (28, Panipech), Ballu (Ghatgate), Sajid (20, Panipech), and Navid (30), a resident of Ramganj Bazar.
According to information received from the scene
After celebrating Eid, 11 people from Jaipur had come to the Banas River in Tonk for a picnic on Tuesday. Three of them were cooking food on the banks of the river. The remaining 8 people had gone down to bathe in the Banas River. However, they drowned due to a lack of water forecast; at this time, the people on the banks shouted. After this, some people showed courage and pulled the youth out, but by then it was too late. All 8 youths drowned.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has expressed grief over the accident. The Chief Minister wrote on social media, ‘X’ – The news of the death of youths by drowning in the Banas river in Tonk district is very painful. He said that upon receiving information about the incident, district administration officials were instructed to immediately undertake rescue and relief operations.
