Baramati Bank Manager Takes Own Life Due to Work Stress
Pune: A shocking incident has occurred at the Bank of Baroda branch in Baramati, where a bank officer took his own life due to work stress. The deceased officer has been identified as Shivshankar Mitra (48 years old), who was working as the Chief Manager at the bank. The police have found a note written by Mitra before taking his own life, in which he cited work stress as the reason for his decision. The note reads, "I can't bear the stress of work... I am tired." The police have clarified that Mitra did not directly blame anyone for his decision.
Details of the Incident
According to the police, after the regular work of the bank ended on Thursday, Mitra asked all the other employees to go home. The security guard also left around 9:30 pm. CCTV footage shows that Mitra took his own life around 10 pm. He had earlier asked a colleague for a rope. When Mitra did not return home late at night, his wife became worried and went to the bank to check. She found the lights on, but there was no response from inside. When the door was opened, Mitra was found hanging from a hook on the ceiling.
Mitra's Situation
Shivshankar Mitra had resigned on July 11 due to work stress and health problems and was currently completing the notice period given by the bank. Despite this, he was unable to bear the mental stress and took his own life.
Contents of the Note
In the note written by Mitra before taking his own life, he cited the bank's work stress as the reason for his decision. He wrote that the bank should not put extra stress on employees and that everyone is aware of their work. He also expressed hope that his wife and daughter would forgive him and suggested that they donate their eyes.
