Pune Traffic Police Constable Found Dead by Suicide; Investigation Going on
Pune: A shocking incident has rocked the Pune police force, as a traffic police constable was found dead by suicide at his residence. The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Vilas Gaikwad, a 42-year-old constable who worked in the control room of the city's traffic department. On Saturday, Gaikwad was at home on his weekly off, while his wife had gone to Daund and their two children, aged 12 and 14, were at school. When his wife tried to contact him multiple times in the afternoon, she received no response. Upon returning from school, the children found the house locked and informed the neighbors, who then contacted the police. Officers from the Vimantal Police Station arrived at the scene, opened the door, and found Gaikwad hanging inside the house.
Investigation Underway
The police have registered a case of accidental death and have begun an investigation to determine the cause of the suicide. Gaikwad's mobile phone and other personal belongings are being examined to gather more information.
Colleagues Left Saddened
Gaikwad was known in the department as a calm and dedicated officer. His sudden demise has left his colleagues and seniors deeply saddened. He is survived by his wife and two young children.
The police force is currently grappling with the shock of this incident, and an inquiry is underway to understand the circumstances surrounding Gaikwad's death.
